Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive mental health care to our patients. You will collaborate with others to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with various mental health conditions.

Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments to formulate accurate diagnoses, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, as appropriate, while monitoring for efficacy and side effects, offer education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and community resources, document patient encounters accurately and timely in accordance with regulatory standards, collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care, and stay informed about current developments in psychiatric treatment modalities, pharmacotherapy, and evidenced-based practices.

Qualifications:

  • Master's, Post-Master, or Doctorate degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from an accredited institution,
  • Current license to practice as PMHNP in the State of Nebraska, Across the Lifespan Board Certified preferred,
  • 2 years of experience as a PMHNP in an inpatient or outpatient Mental/Behavioral Health setting,
  • Ability to confidently work with youth, adult, and geriatric populations,
  • Expertise in primary care, acute care, and chronic psychiatric care practices,
  • Ability to uphold ethical standards according to the American Nursing Association and the American Counseling Association code of ethics,
  • Experience in assessing and diagnosing mental health disorders,
  • Experience with written clinical documentation including but not limited to: treatment plans, progress notes, and evaluations
  • Experience in administering a variety of assessment tools (ex. GAD-7, ASI, ACE)
  • Ability to demonstrate and model appropriate boundaries with clients and coworkers
  • Ability to complete and submit documentation in a timely manner, consistent with Boone County Health Center policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via written and verbal methods.
  • Comfort and experience working with a diverse and rural client base.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and demonstrate compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
