Full-Time- 8am-4:30pm. Responsible for wound care coding, specialty clinic coding and mental health coding. Requires strong attention to detail and follows the AHIMA code of ethics. Some duties include: assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes; sending queries to providers when necessary; conducts chart audits as needed; maintains knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes; and performs follow up on accounts coded.
Requires a minimum of one year coding certificate from college or technical school; equivalent work experience may be accepted in lieu of certificate. Coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA is preferred or be willing to obtain within first year of work. Must have experience in CPT and ICD-10 coding and have knowledge of third-party payer reimbursement, coding, and documentation requirements. Solid knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and experience in Evaluation and Management coding is required. High proficiency in the use of various computer systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database software skills required. Must have superior verbal and written communication skills and possess the ability to successfully present information to providers.
